What Is Ceramic Coating?
A ceramic coating is a liquid, professional-grade protective layer that bonds to your vehicle’s clear coat and cures into a hard, slick, glossy shell.
What it is
A semi-permanent coating applied by hand after the paint is fully prepped. We use System X, a professional line made by Element 119: Pro+, Max G+ and the new Phantom, plus Glass+ for glass and Wheel+ for wheels.
How it works
The coating chemically bonds to the clear coat and cures into a 9H-rated layer (Pro+ and Max G+). Its slick, hydrophobic surface makes water bead and roll off, carrying dirt with it, so grime has a harder time sticking.
Benefits
- Deep gloss: System X says Max G+ is 30% glossier
- Hydrophobic, self-cleaning finish
- Faster, easier washes
- Helps resist bird droppings, bug splatter and road film
- Works on paint, wraps and PPF (Max G+)
What it isn’t
Ceramic coating is not a force field. It won’t stop rock chips the way PPF does, and it isn’t the same as ceramic window tint. Many owners combine PPF on high-impact areas with a coating everywhere.
Longevity & warranty
System X lists a lifetime warranty for Phantom and Max G+ and 6 years for Pro+ on automobiles. Warranties require an approved applicator, registration within 30 days and annual inspections, per System X’s terms.
Who it’s for
New car owners who want to lock in the shine, busy drivers who want faster washes, owners of black or dark cars that show every spot, and anyone pairing it with STEK PPF for complete protection.
Gloss
System X says Max G+ delivers a 30% glossier finish.
Hydrophobic
Water beads and sheets off.
Self-cleaning
Dirt releases with less effort.

How to Care for Your Coating
Wash regularly
Hand wash with a pH-neutral soap; the slick surface lets dirt rinse off more easily.
Avoid harsh washes
Skip brush-type automatic washes and strong degreasers that can wear the coating down faster.
Keep the warranty
System X warranties require registration within 30 days and annual inspections. We’ll help you stay on schedule.

Ceramic Coating Questions
What does ceramic coating do?
A ceramic coating bonds to your paint to add gloss and a slick, hydrophobic surface, so dirt and water release more easily and washing is faster.
Which ceramic coating do you use?
System X, a professional ceramic coating line made by Element 119. We offer Pro+ (6-year), Max G+ (our most popular, also available for matte paint) and the new Phantom, plus Glass+ for glass and Wheel+ for wheels.
Is there a warranty?
System X lists a lifetime warranty for Phantom and Max G+ and a 6-year warranty for Pro+ on automobiles. Warranty requires installation by an approved applicator, registration within 30 days and periodic inspections, per System X’s terms.
How much does ceramic coating cost?
Ceramic coating starts at $1,200 for System X Pro+ (6-year), $1,600 for Max G+ (10-year, our most popular) and $2,400 for the new System X Phantom. Your final price depends on vehicle size and paint condition. Get an exact quote through our quote form or booking page.
Can you ceramic coat matte paint?
Yes. System X makes a matte version of Max G+ (Max MF) that protects matte paint and matte PPF without adding gloss, so the flat finish stays flat.
Is it the same as ceramic tint?
No. Ceramic coating protects paint; ceramic window tint (like STEK SMART+) is a window film that rejects heat.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?
Usually, yes. A coating locks in whatever is under it, so swirls and scratches should be polished out first. System X also requires a machine polish on vehicles over three months old for warranty.
Can ceramic coating go on wheels and glass?
Yes. System X makes Wheel+ for wheels and Glass+ for glass, which can be added to any coating package.
Does ceramic coating stop rock chips?
No. Coatings add gloss and make washing easier, but they don’t absorb impacts. For rock chip protection, pair a coating with STEK paint protection film on high-impact areas.
Do I still need to wash my car?
Yes, but it’s faster and easier. A coated car still collects dirt; it just releases it more readily. Regular, gentle hand washing keeps the coating performing its best.
