What Is Window Tint?
Automotive window tint is a thin, multi-layer film installed on the inside of your car’s glass. It controls how much light, heat and UV gets through, without changing the glass itself.
What it is
A precision-cut film applied to the interior side of your side and rear windows (and windshield, if you choose). We install only genuine STEK film: ACTION+ (nano carbon), SMART+ (ceramic) and NEX+ (ceramic infused with graphene).
How it works
The film’s layers absorb and reflect parts of the sun’s spectrum. Carbon and ceramic particles target infrared, the part you feel as heat, while UV inhibitors block ultraviolet. The shade number (5–70) sets how much visible light passes through.

ACTION+ carbon is a great value step up from dyed film. SMART+ ceramic rejects more heat at the same shade. NEX+ adds graphene to the ceramic for STEK’s highest heat rejection. All three won’t interfere with phone, radio or GPS signals since none are metallic.

Kentucky tint law
Every shade we install on a Kentucky-registered car is chosen with the law in mind. Tell us how dark you want to go and we'll show you where the line is.
Per KRS 189.110: front side windows must let in at least 35% of visible light (reflectivity 25% max); windows behind the driver at least 18% (35% max reflectivity), or 8% on multipurpose vehicles like SUVs and vans; ±3% tolerance. Windshield film is limited to a strip above the AS-1 line or clear film with 70%+ light transmission. Tinting the rear window requires side mirrors on both sides. The final shade choice is yours.

How much does window tint cost in Louisville?

Is ceramic tint worth it over carbon?
If heat matters to you, yes. STEK SMART+ Ceramic rejects more solar energy than STEK ACTION+ Carbon, and STEK NEX+ Ceramic Graphene adds graphene for STEK's highest heat rejection.
What is graphene window tint?
STEK NEX+ is a ceramic film infused with graphene, which disperses heat so the cabin stays cooler. STEK lists up to 64% total solar energy rejected (05 shade).
How dark can I tint my windows in Kentucky?
Under KRS 189.110, front side windows need at least 35% visible light transmission and windows behind the driver at least 18% (8% on multipurpose vehicles such as SUVs and vans), with a 3% tolerance. We’ll show you samples so you can choose your shade.
How long does the tint take to cure?
Plan on 3 to 5 days. Keep your windows rolled up during that time and don’t worry about a little haze or small water pockets; they clear as the film cures.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. STEK lists a limited lifetime warranty on all three films we install, against fading, delamination, bubbling and cracking, per STEK’s warranty terms. ProShield also stands behind its installation work.
Do you tint windshields?
Yes. Windshield tint starts from $200, depending on the vehicle and film. A visor strip (eyebrow) is $50. See options on our booking page.
